Beginner Level Camp
Beginner camper learn how to saddle, bridle, care for their horse, and maneuver them with basic controls.
They will also know breeds, colors, parts of the saddle and bridle, and horse safety. Camp hours for the beginner camp are 8am - 3pm, with a camp show at 5pm on Friday.
Intermediate Level Camp
Intermediate camps focus on basic horse training (lunging for respect and desensatizing), wound care, how to fall safely, and basic hoof care. We will begin loping/cantering towards the end of the week in this camp, so trotting with good form comfortably is a prerequisite. We will also be bareback swimming with the horses and manuvering over some small jumps.
Advanced Level Camp
You must be comfortable with loping/cantering to attend this camp level, no exceptions. We will be doing a lot of moving on the trail, including a 4-5 hour trail ride on at least one of the days. There is an away overnight camp out this week, which includes cooking meals over an open fire and some outdoor education. We will be also learning in depth anatomy and physiology, a basic overview of starting a horse under saddle, and tack maintenance.
Barrel Boot Camp
This is an advanced (again, mandatory loping/cantering) camp that focuses on barrel racing. This camp is in the evening from 5 - 10. We will attend a jackpot on Friday evening. Campers will be learning patterning, riding techniques, and conditioning. This is not a camp for the faint hearted. :)
